The Lagos State Magistrates’ Court in Yaba, on Monday, sent back to custody Fisayo Ogedengbe, an auxiliary nurse, and Ayobani Sadiq, aka Primeboy, Mohbad’s friend arrested in connection with the death of Ilerioluwa Aloba, aka Mohbad.
However, The magistrate granted bail in the sum of N20m to Mohbad’s ex-boss, Azeez Fashola, aka Naira Marley, and Balogun Eletu, aka Sam Larry while the case has been adjourned till November 29 for DPP advice.
The magistrate said, “The defendants (Naira Marley and Sam Larry) are hereby granted bail in the sum of N20m with three responsible sureties in like sum pending the legal advice from the Office of the Directorate of Public Prosecution.
“Also, one of the sureties must own a landed property. As part of the bail conditions, the defendants are to surrender their passports and make weekly appearances at the State Criminal Investigation Department.”
“Any attempts to contact me directly would be recorded and potentially disclosed in open court proceedings,” she added.
The sister of Naira Marley, Shubomi, has cried out for the release of her brother, claiming violation of her brother’s human rights in an Instagram post on Saturday.
It could be recalled that Naira Marley, and Sam Larry had be arrested over the death of late singer, Mohbad.
She wrote, “Keeping someone who willingly traveled back to help in detention for nearly 30 days, with no charge, no evidence, no sufficient witness is a violation of his human rights. Keeping him in custody to appease social media and the internet mob is crazy.
“If you have evidence against him for anything he’s been accused of, charge him! But if you don’t release him. It shouldn’t take this long for the investigation to be done.
“We all want the truth! We all want justice. What is the delay? We’ve already lost one person, trying to lynch another is not going to bring about justice.”
The legal team of a Nigerian artist, and Record Label Boss, Azeez Fashola, aka Naira Marley, has threatened to sue Solomon Oyeniyi, aka K-Solo, over his recent statement concerning Naira Marley.
The statement reads, “Naira Marley is involved [in Mohbad’s death]. He cannot tell me he is not involved. He has a hand in his death.
“Somebody can’t be under your label, and he is being bullied every day, and you never came out to say anything. And you said you don’t know anything about it.
“You’re putting up a statement? Everybody can put up a statement. Naira Marley has an involvement in. He can’t tell me no.
“Let him come out and wash himself clean and say, ‘I, Naira Marley, I’m not involved in this.’ Then let the police do their due diligence like the English they used.”
Reacting to the allegation from K-solo, Naira Marley’s legal team in a statement titled, “Legal action will be initiated against K-Solo for defamation of Naira Marley’s character” which was signed by the record label’s media’ Head, Olamide Akinrimade, threatened legal action.
The statement partly read, “The legal team representing Naira Marley will be initiating legal action against K-Solo for defamation of character. It is essential to emphasise that making unfounded allegations and false statements can have far-reaching consequences.
“Accusations of this nature not only tarnish the image of the accused but also perpetuate baseless claims that have spread like wildfire because elements like K-Solo and others (especially two known actresses) have speared head the campaign of calumny against the person of Naira for reasons best known to them.
“In times past, we kept quiet because we wanted to honour the memory of the dead and honour the relationship with him, but we realised many people are setting negative agendas and spreading negative narratives against Naira Marley. We will no longer fold our hands and watch people with negative agendas drag Naira Marley, and neither would we allow them to achieve their aim of declaring him guilty of an offence he did not commit, at all cost.”
“Every falsehood and rumour will be met with severity and the full weight of law.
“Naira Marley has consistently refuted any involvement in Mohbad’s tragic passing and has vehemently denied the allegations put forth by K-Solo. We will give K-Solo the opportunity to provide evidence and prove his accusation, the same honour he didn’t extend to the Naira fair hearing.”
The parents of the late singer, Mohbad, had on Wednesday, told the Coroner’s Inquest that he stopped going to shows for six months because he was scared of the constant beating, harassment, and bullying he got from his former boss, Naira Marley, and Sammy Larry.
Here’s their statement in full;
The father of the late singer said, “Mohbad was scared of going out for six months. He said he did not know if the substance he drank at the NDLEA will appear at the airport.”
The mother said, “My son told us that there was a show that Naira Marley forced him to attend which he declined because it was Sammy Larry that was the organizer of that show.
“Whenever Mohbad was with me, he was always full of fear; he said it was Naira Marley who collected all the money for the shows he performed because the three-year contract that he signed with him had not elapsed.
“He always mentioned Naira Marley and Sammy Larry, and he was always shaking. I begged him several times to allow me to speak with them, but he refused, saying he didn’t want them to kill me.
“The last time he traveled for a show, after he came back, he mentioned to me that Naira Marley came to attack him, he reported the case to the police but I don’t know if the police invited Naira Marley”.
She reconnected with Mohbad through her sister after she left Mohbad’s Father when he was 3.
She said when he told her that he was a singer, she responded that it wasn’t the prophecy she got when she was pregnant with him. “You were supposed to be a pastor, I told him but he played with me and then left”.
“After he left that night, somebody came to me and showed me a video that was circulating online that they were beating him and he was crying and said that Naira Marley wanted to kill him.
‘The following day, I got a call again that the deceased had been hospitalized. By the time I got there, they said he had been discharged and he was ok healthwise.
“Mohbad told me on the third day that he was inside the studio when he got a call that something was happening at Azeez Fashola’s (Naira Marley) house that the NDLEA came to raid his house,” she said.
She also said it was the information of the raid that the Mohbad heard that made him rush down to Naira Marley’s house because his younger brother, Zinoleesky, and his wife, Omowunmi Aloba, were staying at Naira Marley’s house.
On getting to Naira Marley’s house, NDLEA had already taken Zinolesky and others away.
“The deceased followed the NDLEA to their office and he asked why they took his friends away he became thirsty due to the argument between him and the NDLEA, then he was given water, and he later discovered that he was not feeling ok again after drinking the water.
“I asked him why he was shouting on the Internet, he said Naira Marley wanted to kill him. I asked him why does Naira Marley want to kill you, he said I shouldn’t worry, that I cannot understand.
“I and one Iya Lode went to Naira Marley’s house and on seeing Naira Marley, he explained that the deceased spoiled his name. I and his father apologized to him, but he still wrote a statement that he (Naira Marley) wanted to kill him.
“I was at the deceased’s house on Saturday when the deceased told me that he had a show on Sunday, September 10, 2023, at Ikorodu but the following Tuesday I received a call that the deceased was dead”.
She said that Mohbad had warned her not to say anything concerning his challenges with Naira Marley and Sam Larry because they would kill her.
Earlier on, the father of Mohbad, Joseph Aloba, told the coroner’s inquest that Mohbad was buried the day after his death because the mortuary rejected him, and where Mohbad was buried was his land.
He also told the coroner that on the day of his son’s death, when he got to the late singer’s house, he went to his room upstairs where he saw blood-soaked clothes before he was told that the body of Mohbad was in the living room.
Nigerian singer, Habeeb Okikiola aka Portable, has claimed that late singer Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba, aka Mohbad was killed because of his fallout with his former boss, Naira Marley.
His words: “Mohbad was killed because he was a betrayer. We help these young artists and make them blow, but they repay us with evil. After everything Marlian music did for Mohbad, he later said they didn’t love him. He left the label and went to associate with the enemies of Naira Marley.
“Those ones then killed him to implicate Naira. God will save Naira from this mess because he only helped Mohbad out of a good heart, but he betrayed him.”
The coroner’s investigation on seeking the truth behind the untimely death of Ilerioluwa Aloba, aka Mohbad, has summoned Abdulazeez Fashola, aka Naira Marley; Owodunni Eletu, aka Sam Larry; and Owodunni Ibrahim, aka Primeboy, to appear before it on October 25, 2023.
Magistrate Sotobi Adedayo of the Candide Johnson Courthouse, Ikorodu, Lagos State, on Friday, October 13, 2023, instructed the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department, Panti, to make sure that Naira Marley, Sam Larry and Primeboy are at the next adjourned date scheduled for October 25, 2023. Naira Marley and Sam Larry are currently being detained at Panti.
He goes on to request for cooperation in the investigation for quick and fast justice delivery on the death of the late singer, Mohbad while also stating that there should be no delay in order for MohBad’s remains to be finally buried.
Assistant Superintendent of Police, Muhammad Yusuf, an investigating police officer attached to SCID homicide section, stated that during their investigation, there was no evidence pointing that Naira Marley assaulted Mohbad, nor was there any evidence that Sam Larry and Naira Marley were associated with Feyisayo Ogedengbe, the nurse who administered the injection to the Mohbad.
Lagos coroner court located in Ikorodu has summoned 3 suspects regarding the death of the late popular singer, Mohbad. They are; Abdulazeez Fashola, a.k.a. Naira Marley, Owodunni Eletu a.k.a. Sam Larry, and Owodunni Ibrahim a.k.a Primeboy.
Coroner Magistrate, Adedayo Shotobi, has summoned them to appear before the court on October 25, 2023, with the main reason of clearing the air on the incident and identifying any person responsible for the unfortunate circumstance.
The Coroner’s Court has the obligation of scrutinizing the causes and circumstances enveloping certain deaths that are deemed to be unusual, violent, or cases where the cause stays hidden.
Naira Marley‘s legal practitioner, Olalekan Ojo, has spoken out during a recent interview with Daddy Freeze that Naira Marley and Sam Larry cannot be charged for the death of his former signee, Mohbad on the grounds of bullying.
“If anyone checks very well, they will not be able to find any evidence to back up claims that Naira Marley bullied Mohbad.
‘’As for Naira Marley, I believe very strongly that no matter how hard you look, you will not find a single incident where Naira Marley bullied him” Olalekan Ojo while responding to the Commissioner of Police report.
While responding to the viral video currently trending online whereby Sam Larry was seen attacking Mohbad during a music video shoot, he said that the video did not reflect the true position of things.
Nigerian singer, and Marlians Record Label CEO, Azzez Fashola also known as Naira Marley, may have more legal battles to handle as a judge of the Federal High Court, Ikoyi, Lagos, has issued a production warrant against Naira Marley.
According to the statement issued by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on Friday via their official X account, Naira Marley is being arraigned on 11 count charges bordering on conspiracy and credit card fraud.
Here’s the statement, “Justice Nicholas Oweibo of the Federal High Court sitting in Ikoyi, Lagos, on Friday, October 5, 2023, issued a production warrant against Nigerian singer, Azeez Fashola, also known as Naira Marley.
“Naira Marley is being prosecuted by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, on 11-count charges bordering on conspiracy and credit card fraud.
“At the resumed sitting on Friday, counsel to the defendant, Olalekan Ojo, SAN informed the court that the defendant was unavoidably absent from court owing to his being detained by the Police for interrogation in respect of the murder of Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba, also known as Mohbad.
“Ojo, therefore, prayed the court for an adjournment of the trial.
“Responding, prosecution counsel, Bilkisu Buhari, however, prayed the court to issue a production warrant against the defendant to ensure his presence in court on the next adjourned date.
“Justice Oweibo granted the prayers of the prosecution counsel and issued a production warrant against the defendant.
“The judge further adjourned the matter till October 30, 2023 for continuation of trial.”
After the investigation by the Special Investigation Team concerning the sudden death of the late Nigerian rapper, Ilerioluwa Aloba, aka Mohbad, Lagos State Police Command yesterday came up with a provisional report on what they believed caused Mohbad’s death on September 12, 2023.
Owohunwa reported, “ The Auxiliary Nurse who was contacted and invited by Ayobami Sadiq (a.k.a Spending), a friend of Mohbad, on 11th September 2023 to treat the singer at his residence at Lekki-Lagos. She eventually came on Tuesday, September 12, 2023, and administered three different injections which are believed to have occasioned the chain of reactions that directly resulted in the death of the singer.
“She is the Principal Suspect in the death of Mohbad. She acknowledged that it was the injections that she administered to the deceased that triggered the reactions which eventually led to Mohbad’s death. Other expert opinions and witnesses’ statements corroborated her admittance. Her actions of administering doses of Tetanus Toxoid, Paracetamol (IV), and Ceftriaxone injection (IV) on Mohbad at his residence on September 12, 2023, immediately and directly triggered the reactions
“This criminal liability is further heightened given the evidential fact that as an auxiliary nurse, she is not qualified to administer such medications or function as a qualified nurse. She also did this in a non-clinical environment and in a professionally negligent manner that negated standard medical protocols.
“ Mr. Ayobami Sodiq, a friend of Mohbad who invited the auxiliary nurse to treat him is being suspected of conspiracy in the death of the singer.
His action in inviting a person known to him as an auxiliary nurse to attend to the deceased in a non-clinical setting occasioned Mohbad’s death. He is being held for conspiracy to commit a felony”.
For Abdulazeez Fashola (a.k.a Naira Marley) and Samson Balogun Eletu popularly called Sam Larry, he revealed that “written testimonies of the witnesses aided detectives in gaining a clearer insight into the allegations of assault and bullying leveled against them.
“Many witnesses alleged that the deceased was indeed bullied and assaulted several times by AbdulAzeez Adeshina Fashola (a.k.a. Naira Marley) ‘m’ and Samson Erinfolami Balogun (a.k.a. Sam Larry) ‘m’ and their gangs. It was affirmed that sometime in 2019, the deceased was allegedly signed by Naira Marley into a record label known as Marlians Music Limited. Due to disagreement on terms of the contract, the deceased, Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba (a.ka. Mohbad) pressed for the revocation of his contractual relationship with Marlian Music Label, while also pushing to relieve his then manager who was a brother to Naira Marley.
“It was alleged that these moves irked the suspects, AbdulAzeez Adeshina Fashola (a.k.a. Naira Marley) ‘m’ and Samson Erinfolami Balogun (a.k.a. Sam Larry) ‘m’ who in consequence, allegedly on several occasions conspired, bullied, and assaulted the deceased. It was also asserted by some witnesses with corroborative video evidence that before his demise, Mohbad had raised an alarm that his life was being threatened. He was being bullied and assaulted by Naira Marley and Sam Larry.
Upon their arrest, AbdulAzeez Adeshina Fashola (a.k.a. Naira Marley) and Samson Erinfolami Balogun (a.k.a. Sam Larry) denied allegation of complicity in the death of Mohbad by pleading to the alibi that they were both out of the country when the incident occurred and that they were not in any manner involved in the chain of events that occasioned his death between 10th – 12th September, 2023. However, there is a preponderance of evidence linking both Naira Marley and Sam Larry to the allegations of threat to life, cyberstalking, and sundry crimes committed against Mohbad in his lifetime and they are being held liable”.
“For the fifth suspect, Ibrahim Owoduni (a.k.a PrimeBoy) who was the deceased’s Childhood friend, he was discovered to have attended the show at Ikorodu with the deceased on September 10, 2023, at the end of which they both engaged in a violent fight during which Mohbad was injured. The management of the injury subsequently resulted in his death”.
Speaking concerning the measures the Special Investigation Team took in discovering the truth, he said: Exhumation and Autopsy on Mohbad’s body, Toxicology Tests, which results he said were still being awaited, as well as a visit to Mohbad’s home which was described as the crime scene, to review the Close Circuit Television footages covering days of the incident which he said was out of order.
“The engagement led to the recovery of remnants of the drugs, injections, and other test kits administered by the auxiliary nurse, including; one Tetanus toxoid injection, three used syringes, two used syringes filled with suspected medicine contents, one packet of ceftriaxone solution, procaine penicillin injection, empty broken of diclofenac injection, paracetamol diluted with water, water for injection, six hand gloves, one bandage, one plaster and one iodine solution. Also separately recovered is the Mobile Phone of the deceased. All were registered as exhibits”, Owohunwa said.
He went on to say that detectives also visited Cura-Med Hospital and Perez Hospital, both in Lekki area of Lagos where Mohbad was taken to and pronounced dead on arrival, as well as Chandelier Night Club, in Victoria Island Lagos, and Elegushi Beach, Lekki-Lagos, where he was said to have been assaulted and bullied, some months before his death.
In addition, Medical Experts were sent to interview the Auxiliary nurse, he said, “ On September 26, 2023, a team of Medical Doctors, Pharmacist, and Nurse drawn from the Pharmacists Council of Nigeria, Nigerian Medical Association, and the Nigeria Police Force Medical Services jointly interviewed the Auxiliary nurse.
“A detailed report which is being utilized as an expert opinion and critical evidence of high prosecutorial value has been submitted. It specifically identified some illegal acts and professional negligence in the manner the drugs were administered to the deceased by the principal suspect.
The Report also ascertained that as an auxiliary Nurse, Ms. Feyisayo does not have the competence, knowledge, brief, or certification to diagnose, prescribe, or administer drugs and injections to patients as she was supposed to work under the directives and supervision of a qualified medical doctor or nurse while on duty. The Report also strongly propelled that there is a link between the medical carelessness of Auxiliary Nurse Feyisayo Ogedengbe and the death of the late singer, Mohbad.
Concerning the Autopsy conducted on Mohbad, he said, “Although the result of the autopsy and toxicology tests are being awaited, substantial grounds have been covered well enough by the Special Investigation Team to support the processing of the casefile to the Director of Public Prosecution.
“Consequently, the casefile is being duplicated and forwarded to the Director of Public Prosecution for vetting and legal advice, the outcome of which could inform further investigative actions and prosecution.
“While re-assuring that the Command will sustain its firm determination to ensure justice in this case, I wish to assure that the members of the public will be availed of any further development in relation to the outcomes of the Autopsy and Toxicology Reports, DPP advice, feedback from NDLEA and any other development in the investigation into this case”, he said.

The Lagos State Police Command detained Marlian Record Label Boss, and singer, Mr. Azeez Fashola, popularly known as Naira Marley on the 3rd of October, 2023 following an investigation into the death of the late singer, Ilerioluwa Aloba, popularly known as Mohbad.
This was confirmed by the Police Spokesperson, Benjamin Hundeyin, in a statement via X, formerly known as Twitter, which read: “Azeez Fashola, aka Naira Marley, has been taken into custody for interrogation and other investigation activities.”
Former Marlian Record Label Signee, Lil Smart has expressed his delight in quitting Naira Marley‘s Record Label through a Live video on Thursday, “See how fresh I look after I quit Marlian music”.
“See the Mercedes Benz I’m driving compared to when I was with them. I never bought such a car when I was with Marlian”.
He continues, “I don’t want to suffer a horrible fate like what happened to Mohbad”.
Other Ex Marlian artists including AJ have revealed their troubles about their dealings with the Record Label in response to the issue encircling the death of Mohbad.
